Chapter 63: If Mr. Gray Wolf was really cursed, how could she be fine even after staying in his cave and sleeping on the same stone bed as him? (3)
After saying those words, she made an exaggerated frightened expression as if Ruan Qiuqiu, who carried that scent of Mr. Gray Wolf, was the source of a viral infection.
Ruan Qiuqiu clenched her hand into a fist. A fierce ball of fire ignited in her heart. She felt a bit breathless from having to suppress her rage.
She knew that the people in the Fire Wolf Tribe didn’t like Mr. Gray Wolf, but she hadn’t expected their thoughts would be so malicious towards him. They were still scared of him even though he was seriously injured. And yet, they would carry on with ridiculing him and insulting him behind his back.
Curse? What curse? If Mr. Gray Wolf was really cursed, how could she be fine even after staying in his cave and sleeping on the same stone bed as him?
The sound of their laughter was extremely grating. Ruan Qiuqiu tightly pressed her lips together. She wanted to erupt in anger, but reason told her that she couldn’t. At least, now wasn’t the time to get angry.
“You seem very angry?” Looking at Ruan Qiuqiu’s increasingly unpleasant expression, the young wolf demon raised his eyebrows. “We’re just telling the truth.”
There was anger in his voice, and his expression gradually became more worked up as he said, “That gray wolf is crippled and can’t hunt. It’s because he’s cursed that so many wolf demons in our tribe died. He deserves to fall to such a point. He should have died earlier! You should give up on trying to trade for herbs to treat that wolf. He deserves to die!”
The more the young wolf demon spoke, the more worked up he got. “If it wasn’t because of him… If it wasn’t because of the curse on his body and the clan shaman… I wouldn’t have restrained myself from…”
Seeing that the young wolf demon could no longer control his emotions and was about to spill their tribe’s secrets, an older wolf demon, who had been watching the show from the neighboring cave, walked over and forcefully smacked the young wolf’s shoulder. He shouted, “Ning Yue, what are you saying?”
The young wolf demon named Ning Yue immediately became clear-headed. Hissing in pain, he answered, “Older brother Yu, sorry, I didn’t mean to say that…”
Xie Yu waved his hand at Ning Yue to interrupt him and indicate that it was okay. Xie Yu turned around and looked at Ruan Qiuqiu. Her dark, large eyes had reddened slightly in fury.
He thought this human was very interesting. Ruan Qiuqiu was standing downhill from them, so he leaned over halfway to decrease the distance between them and to remove the height difference between them.
Ruan Qiuqiu was disgusted by this wolf demon, who looked at her as if she was a novelty. She retreated and didn’t hide that she wanted to ignore him out of dislike.
Xie Yu was a playboy wolf demon that had seen too many beauties, but he felt the joy of hunting when he saw this human. This human was thinner than the humans in the tribe that were raised with delicious food. She was wrapped up in tattered animal skins. Although she looked weak, her gaze was firm.
As Xie Yu stared at Ruan Qiuqiu’s fairly fair-skinned face, his lips slightly curved up. He softened his tone as he said, “You look quite pretty to me. Why is your taste so bad to like that gray wolf though? I’m much more handsome than him, and my body is good too. How about this? If you give me a smile, call me Big Brother Yu, and say that gray wolf is a cripple, I’ll give you some fruits that women like as well as animal skin. It’s very hard to get fruits in winter.”
Xie Yu’s intention was to humiliate and tease her. Although his gentle voice was pleasant to listen to, those played down words hid bottomless contempt. It wasn’t just him simply wanting to take liberties with her.
Ruan Qiuqiu felt like she was going to throw up in disgust from this wolf’s attempts at humiliating her. She bit her lip. Dozens of ideas flashed through her mind.
She thought about patiently enduring, but from the gazes of the surrounding wolf demons, she knew that they wouldn’t let her off. It was even more improbable they would miss out on the opportunity to indirectly insult Mr. Gray Wolf.
If she called him “Big Brother Yu”, endless humiliation was sure to follow.
