Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 10: Rumors (2)

On her way back, she stopped by the hotel and restaurant, Ju Delou, to buy dinner.

When Chen Jinyao arrived home, she placed the dishes on top of the cabinet, then bent down to change her shoes by the entrance. The expression on her face wasn’t so happy. Usually Du Ni would slowly come over and rub against her legs to welcome her. However, that wasn’t the case today. Chen Jinyao even called out to him a few times but the cat still didn’t come.

“Stop yelling,” an arrogant voice sounded. With a hint of pride, the young man said, “The little beast is in my hands.”

Surprised, Chen Jinyao closed her mouth and slowly stepped into her indoor slippers.

“My wife isn’t competent at all. The first sentence you should say when coming home should be ‘Husband, I’m back!’ instead of ‘Duni! Duni!’” accused Yan Cheng half jokingly. Before the other could complain, he suddenly changed the topic and spoke with a gentle voice that was rarely heard, “Don’t move, settle down.”

When Chen Jinyao entered the living room, she saw a scene of Yan Cheng sitting on the sofa in his house clothes, with Du Ni in his arms. He held down the cat with absolute strength while shearing its sharp claws.

She stood on the spot and stared, and her previously bad mood dissipated.

The daily battle between man and cat had come to a halt. Du Ni wasn’t so hostile towards Yan Cheng, which was surprising for a cat with a temper. It’s not easy for it to step back and compromise like now, creating a kind of harmony.

“Wash your hands and eat when you’re ready.”

Chen Jinyao finished work at 4:30 and it was almost 5 o’clock now.

Dinner then sleep.

In fact, Chen Jinlin’s rumors about her being a tigress wasn’t triggered simply by the fact that other women’s contact numbers were blacklisted.

Nearly a week had passed since Er Guan was closed down, and Yan Cheng truly kept his word; he happily became house husband and stayed home. Every day, he lazed about without any desire, doing nothing else aside from cultivating his and Du Ni’s ‘father and son’ relationship.

The Young Master was suddenly quiet and didn’t bother leaving his residence. In the eyes of outsiders, it was as if the sun had risen from the west. Others couldn’t help but speculate. The first thing that came to their minds was that Yan Cheng was recently married, and marriage itself represented the constraint of a wife.

This matter, coupled with the rumor that Chen Jinyao blacklisted her husband’s contact numbers of other women.

This painted her as a tigress who laid strict rules on her husband. Perhaps Yan Cheng feared his villainous wife.

It wasn’t that big of a deal, to be honest.

But it’s really uncomfortable to end up being someone else’s after dinner gossip and be nitpicked at.

If you knew this was happening to you, it’s hard to say that you don’t care at all.

Dinner time.

Only

The couple left the living room and had their meal.

When they finished, Yan Cheng went and laid on the sofa, staring sideways at the TV as he watched the latest news on the sports channel.

Chen Jinyao went over and kicked the noble young man’s leg. “Get up and give me some space.” It was such a long couch, and yet Yan Cheng lazily laid down and took the entire space all to himself.

Yan Cheng lifted a corner of his lips and replied with a whistle: “You can lie on me.”

“I can dance on your belly too,” she said.

The two of them stared at each other meaningfully and the atmosphere was quiet for a while.

“Alright.” Yan Cheng sighed deeply. He changed his position and sat up. “Since I’m scared of you, I’ll let you come and lie down.”

That mouth of yours will be the death of you! Chen Jinyao rolled her eyes and stared back at him. “What’s scary is you haven’t been going out to socialize recently. Who knows? Maybe the police will come over to our door one day and suspect that I’ve murdered my husband.”
