Rise of the Crusader

Chapter 216 - 216 World Of His Own

With no doubt, the action they partook in earlier was simply the tip of the icing, as Karmau stated.

Meanwhile, seeing the new arsenal as well as killing intent excluding from the five in front of him, Vernon’s lips curved.

“Interested,” Vernon muttered with a sadistic smile on his face.

“Alright then.” Said Vernon. “But, I’m feeling sleepy, so you should give it your best shot. At least that way, you will know that you did your best, and your death will count for something.”

Karmau tightened his grip on both of the war hammers in his hand, he already knew Vernon to be a very unreasonable person, but each time they encountered, Vernon still acted in a way that caused him to boil with rage.

It was a good thing that he had the strength to back most of what he said, or else Vernon would have died in the most brutal way possible.

“You know, Vernon, it’s almost like you read minds,” Karmau responded to Vernon a few seconds after he spoke.

Vernon nodded his head, “What can I say, I’m a figure of vast quality.”

.....

“But, for someone who is about to die, you talk a lot, Karmau.” Vernon paused, “It’s not like I can blame you, this is the last chance you will get after all.”

While Karmau had a lot of response to say to Vernon, he held himself back. There was no point in exchanging words with Vernon, he was as unreasonable as anyone could be.

Karmau turned towards the death merchants, “Let’s accomplish what we have been training for.”

“And today we bring back Vernon’s head to the academy.”

Vernon was about to respond to Karmau when he saw the five of them launch toward him.

And unlike the previous attack which they intended to move close to him before making a move, this was completely different.

The five of them assembled into a bizarre but unique formation, and before Vernon could comprehend what was going on, he felt the hair on his body stand on the end.

Vernon’s eyes twitched, and even though the five of them were a few meters away from him, he felt something wasn’t right.

The feeling had emerged ever since they were able to stare into his eyes without turning into stone, and now that they organized in that manner, he realized that he seemed to have underestimated the five in front of him a little.

“Die!!!!!”

Less than a second after those words were spoken, Karmau appeared in front of Vernon, with both war hammers in his hand, aiming toward one area of Vernon’s body.

His Skull.

A brief moment after Karmau appeared in front of Vernon, the other death merchants also arrived in front of him.

The five of them only had one intention… And it was to end Vernon’s life once and for all.

Vernon stared at the steel arrow that was in Nyssa’s hand, the shurikens on Mystique, the stone gauntlet that was on Akuma, and the twin dagger that Nikita held tightly.

At a glance, the five of them were about to deliver a physical attack on Vernon, but the truth was, the attack was more than a physical attack.

The green substance which was around Karmau’s war hammer was a toxin, that once it was to make contact with the human skin, or any part of the body, it would be extremely disastrous.

It was one of the reasons that Karmau earned the name, one hit kill in the academy.

And as for the other three weapons that were launched toward Vernon, they each had their uniqueness, which earned their user’s names both in the academy and outside of it.

However, before the attack, Vernon still remained very relaxed. The skeptical look he had earlier already vanished, and as Vernon stared at five in front, his lips curved inwardly.

“Tsukuyomi,” Vernon muttered as he stretched both of his hands forward.

The five death merchants were caught by surprise by Vernon’s moves, and as they slowly moved their gaze to his palm, a horrified look emerged on their faces.

Right in the middle of Vernon’s hand was an eye.

A red wheel eye to be precise, and less than a second after the death merchants came in contact with the eye, one of them said.

“H-How… How can this be possible.” It was Akuma that spoke.

There was then, terror written all over his face, and he wasn’t the only one who had the grim look on his face.

As the weapons were about to collide with Vernon, the surrounding suddenly changed.

“Where are we?”

There was however no answer to the question that was asked, but as the five death merchants looked at places that seemed to like they were In a nightmare realm, they gulped hard.

Then suddenly, the sound of footsteps could be heard.

“Y-You…” Karmau stuttered upon seeing Vernon in front of him.

Vernon smiled, “Welcome to my world, death merchants.” Vernon said with his hand placed behind his back.

“Your world?”

One of the death merchants said in a puzzled voice.

It wasn’t just Nyssa who was confused by Vernon’s statement, the others were. And seeing, the look on their faces, Vernon spoke.

“I will explain.” Vernon paused, “Since this attack wasn’t led by Orpheus, I guess you didn’t listen to him, and instead the five of you chose to attack without him knowing.”

“Well, this disobedience will cost you dearly,” Vernon said.

The expression of Karmau and the other death merchants changed. While it was indeed true that they had gone against the plan, did they think it would cost them dearly?

The answer was no.

However, they were soon proved wrong when they found themselves tied to a chair.

“What the”

Before those words would be completed, the five of them mouths were taped.

Vernon then took a step forward, and directly appeared in front of the five of them. He stared at them for a few seconds, before saying.

“It’s been quite some time since I have used this ability of mine, so, forgive me, if my control is terrible.”

Vernon said.

“Anyway, let’s begin.”
