I Hate Systems

Chapter 420: First Kill of Luck?

"Come on! Die before you deliver the last hit. That way, I can get in the killing blow and claim victory over the Mian Character." She muttered, "I should make preparations anyway."

She slowly tugged a long bow, aiming right at Compass Carburettor. The long bow she had was custom made, a compound bow that allowed her to output power greater than what her muscles were innately capable of.

She also had a couple of crossbows beside, all having considerable power, enough for the arrows to even penetrate through steel. In the current state where Origin Essence was sealed, they were guaranteed to kill her enemies.

The only reason she had yet to make the killing shot was that she only had one chance. The moment her enemies were alerted, she would lose her perfect chance to kill them.

Moreover, she was waiting for either of the combatants to enact their final lunge. That was where the erupted with their strongest offensive, but at the same time, also left the greatest window to be sneaked upon.

She was waiting for that small window to kill them. "A kill has to be perfect."

"Wait! That bastard!" Suddenly, she was shocked to see the situation change rapidly. But just when she planned to adjust her aim accordingly, she noticed her luck shaking erratically, turning around abruptly to see a shadow moving behind a rock pillar, evading her line of sight.

"An…enemy?" The lady was shocked as looked around, trying to find any traces of the other party. But, they were alert, remaining behind the rock pillar all along.

And the most frustrating thing for her was the fact that her opponent was hanging onto the cliff from the rock pillar\'s top. This way, the moment she turned her back on them, they could climb to the surface and obtain a clear shot at her back.

And with the erratic nature in which her luck shuddered before, she was aware that she was facing the worst possible enemy. So, there\'s no way she could just ignore the attack and leave it to her luck to deflect it.

That was impossible.

"Dammit!" She cursed in response, "I shouldn\'t have come here at all."

She then glanced at her back, smacking her lips in regret, "Shit!"

"Haah…haah…just die already." Dullin shouted as he turned Compass Carburettor\'s face into a bloody mess.

But just when it seemed like Compass Carburettor was about to die, Dullin suddenly noticed his sight turning blurry while he felt lightheaded.

"What\'s…happening?" He frowned in alarm, only now noticing that blood was pouring out like crazy from his right hand.

A portion of it had been destroyed, causing blood to gush out profusely. \'Did this happen from when he pushed me into the water?\'

It was indeed the Dust Wave that had eaten though the armour on his hand, causing this injury. But right after, Compass Carburettor had begun to choke him. So, the thing about his injury was pushed to the back of his mind, making survival his priority.

He focused on saving himself from being choked by the water while struggling to his limit. What he didn\'t understand was that while he exerted strength in his hands while trying so, it only caused his blood to leak out faster.

But that wasn\'t all, while they were fighting, Compass Carburettor made it a desperate fight for life between the two. And when he inserted the energy blade sword through his mouth, all thoughts related to what he had planned before went down the drain as Dullin only wished to kill Compass Carburettor now.

He was confident that Compass Carburettor was getting weaker over time, apparent as to how many times he was slipping up, missing his attacks, or failing to guard himself properly for a variety of reasons, mistakes that would never happen normally. And now, these mistakes caused him self-harm and also made him prone to injury by Dullin\'s attacks.

So, Dullin was aware that he was close to killing Compass Carburettor, and that indeed he was. But, with his arms broken, the pain of that overwhelmed him, causing the pain related to the cut to no longer be felt much in comparison.

And in his high intense state with severe adrenaline rush, Dullin had basically forgotten about the blood loss, which resulted in his current state.

"Dammit…I was close…" Dullin gasped, noticing his legs give out under him as he collapsed into the pool of water, causing the water to gush into his nose, choking him once again.

And slowly, he noticed a figure weakly crawl over his body, turning him around before sitting on his back, pressing him down, preventing him from reaching air.

The water was only knee-length, but that was enough for a grown man—lying flat on the floor—to drown in.

"You…you\'ve…seriously underestimated…my…innate…Luck." Compass Carburettor wheezed as he applied pressure using his weight, feeling Dullin\'s body struggle underneath, twitching erratically before eventually, it turned still.

But, Compass Carburettor didn\'t get up, continuing to be seated in the same location as he slowly cleaned his face. It was indeed a bloody mess, preventing him from seeing anything. It seemed his eyes had taken a serious hit as he was blind now.

There was a constant ringing sound in his ears while his throat ached. He wouldn\'t be able to speak for anytime soon. That wasn\'t all, there was pain everywhere in his body.

Thanks to his Blood Vitality Grass, he had robust healing prowess. But, most of it had been sealed. So, he couldn\'t rely upon it to recover from his injuries.

\'I should leave this place for the time being.\' He thought, \'Once I recover use of my Origin Essence, I\'ll be able to heal myself.\'

"But wait…" He frowned, \'Is he the only System Host in my vicinity?\'

"I have a fairly decent solitude here. So, if another System Host aims for my life here, I\'ll be able to react promptly." He sighed, inching his hand towards the energy blade sword, shuddering suddenly as he grabbed hold of it. For…

It had been severed into three pieces.
