Chapter 106 - The Person Who Doesnt Worship

Chapter 106: Chapter 7 The Person Who Doesn’t Worship

There was a buzzing of engines outside the Grande Funeral Home, coming from afar and gradually getting near. A moment later Old Hank walked into the office with a person.

Hank surprisingly didn’t curse or humiliate the guests. After bringing people there, he silently returned to the coffin display area and continued to wipe the coffin, like what he did every day.

The people who came were all black, only the cuffs had white hem; the round shirt collar was pinned with a silver cross, and the slightly gray hair was combed meticulously. This was a priest, Father Constantine who resided in the church to the northwest of the Grande Funeral Home’s cemetery.

Zach stood up, pulled out the chair for the priest, and apologetically put away the wine glass on the desk.

Constantine smiled, greeted the master of the Grande family, and sat down, “Mr. Grande doesn’t need to change your habits because of my arrival. As long as you don’t drink excessively, which will obviously have a negative impact on your life. ”

Zach’s eyes swept across the silver gleam on the priest’s collar and said with a smile, “Still, this is not a good habit.” After sitting back at his desk, Zach asked inquiringly, “what is the reason for the visit today, father?”

Today was Sunday. Most people who worshiped in the Southern District were elderly people who did not need to work. When there was nothing to do, faith became the most important part of life. Of course, they would not go to the church next to the cemetery, but to the gospel church located in the east.

The church to the northwest of the cemetery of the Grande Funeral Home was only stationed by Father Constantine, two pastors, and a few nuns for a long time.

There was a trace of apology on Constantine’s face, “I am afraid that this afternoon’s funeral will be postponed. While preparing it in the early morning, the nuns discovered that the altar candle stands in front of the altar had cracked and collapsed. We have already called the church and invited people to repair it, but today is Sunday, and they can only come in the afternoon.”

Zach was a little surprised. The altar candle stands were a stepped wooden cabinet, placed on both sides of the altar with the statue of God the Son, and rows of candles were usually placed on them. “No one was injured, right? The statue of the God the Son was not damaged?”

Constantine nodded with a smile and made the sign of the cross, thanking Zach for his concern, “No one was injured, and the statue of God the Son was not damaged. It’s just that the stand is a bit decayed because of the age.”

Zach relaxed a little, opened the drawer, and pulled out a document, which was an appointment for the funeral this afternoon. Zach did not offer to help, because all the items in the church were in the hands of the church and ordinary people could fund it, but they didn’t have the right to make any changes, including maintenance.

Zach smiled at Constantine: “I’ll explain, I think the other party will understand.”

Constantine still had an apology on his face. He knew that the recent funerals were not real funerals, but the relocation of old graves. Most of the clients’ graves were directly transferred to the branch (mill) of the Grande Funeral Home in the east for cremation. Those who would come to the Grande Funeral Home to request for re-burial were prominent figures.

In the past few days, there were be such a fake funeral ceremony every day. As the head of the church, Father Constantine himself knew that their church’s appointments have been queued up to next week. A postponement meant that every funeral after this would be postponed.

Zach looked at Constantine’s expression and smiled: “There is no need to worry, Father. It is not difficult for those in the Western District to find a new church temporarily.”

Constantine raised his eyebrows, thought about it, and nodded helplessly.

Then Zach started calling all the clients, and the process was not as easy as Zach said. After all, the funeral had been determined at least three days in advance. The invitation letter and arrangement had been arranged in advance, and the sudden change on the day made this unpleasant activity even more unpleasant.

Father Constantine didn’t want to trouble Zach too much and explained it to other people himself. No one would get angry with a priest, so this matter was settled happily.

Although our vampire Zach didn’t offer much help during the telephone conversation, Father Constantine still thanked him before leaving.

Watching the priest leave, Zach was also relieved and also became free in the afternoon. Although Quest’s ‘additional’ request has not come yet, there was nothing wrong with investigating it in advance.

Zach wanted to go out with Benjamin again before noon to investigate the names on the list given by James. However, before Zach could drag the sleeping werewolf out of bed, the owner of the list came.

Benjamin squinted his sleepy eyes, glanced at James who was sour-faced, and lay back on the bed, “Leave and talk outside.”

Zach reluctantly left the warehouse and walked to the office, “James, as a police detective, you always seem to leave your partner and act alone. Is this really good?”

There was a band-aid sticking on the bridge of James’ nose in an amusing way, and he curled his mouth, “Today is Sunday, Coulson went to the church.”

Zach raised his eyebrows. “Is Coulson a believer of the Holy Lord?”

“That’s none of your business.” James seemed to realize now that he didn’t need to explain his actions to the vampire.

Zach glanced at James, turned around, and did not enter the Grande Funeral Home.

“Where are you going?” James was already standing on the back porch of the Grande Funeral Home, but he saw Zach walking directly to his car parked in the backyard.

“Keep up, James.” Without looking back, Zach opened the rear door, “You drive.”

James frowned, but he couldn’t do anything to the vampire, so he got into the car obediently.

“Where are we going.” James subconsciously looked at the vampire sitting in the back seat from the rearview mirror. Obviously, he could not see anyone but his own back seat, so he had to turn around while stretching his seat belt.

Zach took out the list and pointed to one casually: “Here.”

James frowned, started the car, and drove away from the Grande Funeral Home.

“The disappearance of the Quest couple was done by nonhumans, right?” James looked at the blank space in the rearview mirror and shook his head, trying to shake off his irritation.

There was no sound behind him, and for a moment, James thought there was no one in the back seat.

“Answer me!” It seemed that shaking his head couldn’t dispel the irritation, James’ eyebrows frowned tighter. The knuckles of his hands clenching on the steering wheel became a bit whitish and the car was already moving. He didn’t want to turn around to stare at the vampire. He could only stare into the empty rearview mirror, “Can’t you just sit in front!”

“Sunlight,” Zach said lethargically.

James was unable to speak for a while, and after a long time he spoke again, “The Quests…”

“Enough James.” Zach’s voice came from behind, “I really have nothing to tell you, because I don’t even know it myself, otherwise I won’t be trying my luck with your list.”

“But…”

“I know, I know.” Zach didn’t seem to have the energy to give James the runaround, “Are you trying to say that the way they appear is very strange? There are not many things that can do this, but not few either. Such as Papa Midnight’s witchcraft, or even Spell can do it. So James, stop asking me, you can save your energy for the guy who we will meet next. ”

James took a few deep breaths and stopped asking questions. The reason was not that he listened to the vampire, but because he had heard the swallowing sound from behind him. The vampire was replenishing himself with food in order to dispel the feeling of lethargy. And James knew that the best food for vampires were humans.
