Chapter 81 - Investment
Chapter 81: Investment
The script was scattered all over the floor. Jiang Zhi gently knocked on the door and interrupted their conversation.
Jiang Zhi picked up the script that had been crumpled into a ball of paper, dusted it off, and stacked it in order before returning it to Director Zheng.
Yan Zhang was deliberately finding fault with Director Zheng. It was obvious that he wanted to anger Director Zheng and find an excuse to withdraw his investment.
As for his mocking and belittling of Director Zheng’s ability, he was probably trying to support Jiang Lu, warn the production team, and suppress Director Zheng and herself.
Jiang Zhi sat opposite Yan Zhang.
“Recently, the topic of virtual games has been quite high. Famous directors at home and abroad have been thinking about the subject of the collision between games and reality, but they failed to produce any good ideas or enticing scripts. Director Zheng and I have talked about his initial ideas. They are very creative…
“I’m afraid that someone here is addicted to all kinds of beauty pageants and love variety shows. He doesn’t pay much attention to the direction of the entertainment industry and the depth of the scripts.
“No wonder. Recently, there have been a lot of scandals concerning the artistes beneath Swallowtail. Do you still have time to come to the production team and criticize them? If it were me, I would definitely be busy cleaning up the mess for them and carefully checking the backgrounds of the co-production brands, Just in case…”
Jiang Zhi gave what that could be considered as a kind reminder. Yan Zhang was so angry that his eyes widened. He grabbed the ashtray and threw it on the ground, shattering it into pieces.
Director Zheng was so nervous that his thoughts were in a mess. “Director Yan…”
Although he was grateful that Jiang Zhi had stepped in to help him out, he was also worried that he would offend Yan Zhang.
After all, Yan Zhang had some influence and status in the entertainment industry. If Yan Zhang were to secretly obstruct his career and if the new drama lacked investment, it would definitely end prematurely…
Jiang Zhi could see Director Zheng’s concern. She smiled and said calmly.
“Director Zheng, if Director Yan cancels the contract, I’m willing to invest in this movie and I won’t interfere with your creative freedom. However, I hope that as long as the roles are compatible, you can use more of Star Glory’s artists and give them a chance.”
“I’ll invest in it, and the roles will be chosen by you and me together.”
Jiang Zhi met Director Zheng’s surprised gaze and calmed down. “There’s more than just Swallowtail in the entertainment industry, isn’t there?”
Her aura was extremely overbearing, and the other two people in the room were instantly stunned.
Yan Zhang looked at her beautiful side profile and suddenly felt flustered. He then patted his knee mockingly and said, “Jiang Zhi, investing in a movie isn’t like buying vegetables in the market. You can’t even redeem your own villa, so how can you have the money to invest?
“Director Zheng, I advise you to consider this carefully. Don’t trust her so easily. When the funds arrive and you run into difficulties, you won’t even have time to cry!”
Yan Zhang stared at Jiang Zhi and licked the back of his teeth with the tip of his tongue. There was anger gushing out from his eyes.
Jiang Zhi’s eyes were filled with contempt. She gave him a sidelong glance and curled the corners of his lips into a perfunctory smile. She retorted, “Director Yan, take care of yourself. You don’t have to worry about my matters. Swallowtail will get to save what little money it has left. Don’t spend it recklessly…”
“Who knows, Swallowtail might be facing a crisis in a while!”
Jiang Zhi, who possessed the memories of her past life, gave her a friendly reminder. However, Yan Zhang felt that she was cursing maliciously. He spat a few words and left angrily.
Bang!
The office returned to silence. Director Zheng’s face was filled with worry as he repeatedly touched the script. He cleared his throat but swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth.
He had some connections in the industry and was well-informed. Of course, he knew that Star Glory was currently struggling. They had to nurture their artists and also think of ways to obtain resources. If they wanted to take out the amount of money invested in the movie, it was simply a joke!
However, Jiang Zhi had good intentions. Director Zheng could not complain, so he could only think of other ways anxiously.
He fiddled with his phone and swiped at his contact list, thinking of contacting other familiar investors to see if there was a possibility of cooperation.
Jiang Zhi’s eyes turned slightly, giving him some reassurance as he said, “Don’t worry. Star Glory would definitely back this movie. The most important thing now is to change the script!
“I saw you mark a few places red. You must be struggling with them, right?
“With my understanding and thoughts, if you want to merge virtual games and reality, you can’t have clear hints or set obvious boundaries at the beginning of the plot.
“We risk losing audience retention in these areas. It’s best to leave some ambiguity in the air. What do you think?”
Jiang Zhi deliberately changed the topic. Sure enough, Director Zheng quickly discussed the plot with her and threw a few more questions that had troubled him for a long time.
Director Zheng moved his gaze away from the computer screen. His eyes were filled with gratitude as he held her hand seriously and said, “Jiang Zhi, thank you…”
Jiang Zhi bit her lips lightly and squeezed out a subtle smile. She felt slightly apologetic.
After all, these plotholes were all caught and solved by Director Zheng himself in her previous life. She was just making use of her future knowledge to bring them up first.
