Chapter 14: The Encounter With an Enemy Who Goes Beyond Excellence

At present, the King is standing in front of Rovel’s presence. The King tries to pull out his voice, and he starts to talk about Rovel’s painstaking effort to return safely. He also talks about Rovel’s achievements in protecting the country and the folks. Every time the King opens his mouth to talk about Rovel’s achievements, he becomes aware that he had done something cruel to him.

King: “……I want to give you some rewards. Do you have something that you want?”

Rovel: “As your permission, actually there are 2 things that I want. However, those 2 are not objects.“

King: “……Please tell me.”

Rovel: “I want the Royal family to restraint meddling into the Vankriff house matters and I also want the Royal family to be present during my younger brother, the head of Vankriff house, Sauvell Vankriff’s divorce proceeding. Please grant me these 2 wishes. “

Actually, the people know that it’s only a matter of time for the Vankriff house to forsake the Royal family. Nevertheless, the whole people in the room are still shaken from Rovel\'s bombshell declaration.

King: “……Rovel, that’s.”

Rovel: “With your permission.”

Once again, Rovel makes his surrounding bewilder by interrupting the King’s speech. They are not bewildered only because Rovel was disrespecting the King by interrupting his speech but because they can also sense his anger. The people in the room are simply totally engrossed in Rovel’s presence so they are able to feel Rovel’s anger despite his calm demeanor.

Rovel: “The one who requested the divorce is Sauvell’s wife, Agriel.”

With this revelation, the surrounding audience change their perception about the whole matter and start to accept Vankriff house’s actions to forsake the Royal Family.

The symbol of this country who was the leader of the army was Rovel. He also belongs to one of the most prominent families in the country. Now that person has turned into the enemy of the Royal family. Because of this, all the aristocrats in the room start to make a fuss. Rovel’s declaration can be interpreted as a proclamation for internal strife. Everyone in the room right away feel that a conflict is about to break out. From then on, the other aristocrats’ gazes in the room become harsh towards the King who has slighted the prominent family which has sacrificed a great deal for the benefit of the country.

Those aristocrats might have been thinking far about the future. If the country is abandoned by Rovel, then the war around the country’s border will expand to engulf the whole country into turmoil. The return of the Hero should have been something to celebrate instead of this mess. For this reason, the aristocrats turn to the King to inquire for some explanation.

King: “Wait!! What is the reason for Agriel’s request to divorce!!”

Rovel: “She said she wants to marry another man.”

The king becomes even more terrified after he heard Rovel\'s reply. It can be perceived that the reason behind the divorce is Agriel’s infidelity.

King: “Is the one that she wants to marry is you, Rovel?”

The King rebuffs Rovel by saying that the Rovel is the cause for Agriel’s infidelity, but Rovel continues to speak against it.

Rovel: “Ten years ago, I broke my engagement with Agriel. Since that was the case, Agriel was able to marry Sauvell and for these past 10 years, I have never gone out from the spirit world. However, Agriel had declared in front of us and including all the servants in our house that her child, Amiel does not belong to Sauvell.”

Confessing her own infidelity in front of the crowd is not only a matter of disgrace for the Royal family. By doing so, it is concluded that Agriel’s infidelity has no relation to the Vankriff house. Consequently, the King’s face has turned pure white.

All the surrounding aristocrats have chosen to side with the Vankriff house. They jeer at the King and pursue him for some explanation. Therefore, the King is flustered with the situation and is unable to say anything else.

At a sudden, a person appears and stands in front of the King.

Lafissel: “……Your Majesty.”

The moment he raised his voice, the people in the room stopped making a fuss and the whole room went back into silence. Once everyone does not speak anymore, Lafissel continues to speak.

Lafissel: “The King is heartbroken by his dearest Agriel’s miss conducts. And such, I will listen to Rovel’s story in the behalf of the King.”

Lafissel’s imposing appearance has carried some kingship dignity. Meanwhile, Rovel raises his eyebrows when he sees Lafissel.

Lafissel: “Rovel, the Royal family will fulfill all of your requests. However, I wish you to make a little concession.”

Rovel: “What is the concession?”

Lafissel: “Your family is an indispensable military force for this country. I’m asking this not for the sake of the King, but for the citizen of this country. I want you to lend that power.”

All the people in the room begin to sympathize with Lafissel who is pleading with a pitiful face.

‘He is exactly the same as usual’

As Rovel though so to himself, his expression turned sour.

Inside the Royal family, there is another person who Rovel hates even more than Agriel. That person is Lafissel, Agriel’s older brother. For Rovel, Lafissel is the greatest enemy in his life.
