Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 7: Prenuptial Agreement (2)

“Well, women say one thing but they mean the total opposite,” Yan Cheng concluded.

Chen Jinyao pretended not to hear him and no longer paid attention to him.

Afterwards, the two of them had nothing to say.

The car drove slowly and steadily. As the relaxing music played, Yan Cheng turned to look out the window and watched the snow thicken. He felt more and more drowsy and his eyelids seemed to get heavier until finally, he closed his eyes and breathed evenly as he slept.

“It’s only right for you to keep a distance. After all, she married someone else and you married some else too.”

Hearing no response, she pouted dully.

There was no need for her to worry since they already things clear with their prenuptial agreement.

Huo Family.

Zhou Xue dialed once again, only to discover that her number’s been blacklisted. Upset, she threw the cup in her hand and screamed in irritation, causing the maid beside her to jump up in fright and to stare at her frequently. After calming down, Zhou Xue naturally blamed it all on Yan Cheng’s ‘demon’ wife.

Since her vanity wasn’t satiated, her emotions were uncontrollable.

Chen Jinyao, who used to be her rival in love, was severely reprimanded by Huo Qidong and left heartbroken.

Still, Chen Jinyao’s family background was still quite good; she was able to marry a suitable man like Yan Cheng, the former spare tyre lover of Zhou Xue who was cast aside.

The car drove into the underground parking garage.

After finding a parking space, Chen Jinyao turned off the car and unbuckled her seatbelt. She bent over and nudged Yan Cheng, who was still sleeping calmly. She couldn’t help but smile as she poked him while urging him gently: “Wake up, Yan Cheng, Yan Cheng, get up, we’re home.”

Seeing that the man was unresponsive, she simply shifted to the front and patted him on the face.

After patting him twice, Yan Cheng suddenly grasped her hand. Caught off guard, Chen Jinyao’s eyes widened as she looked at him in surprise. She tried to pull her arm away, but instead, she felt another force. The difference between a man’s and a woman’s strength was too much, plus, Chen Jinyao’s center of gravity was unstable, causing her to accidentally trip. Before she could fall and injure herself, she suddenly felt Yan Cheng pull her towards him.

“Ah!” Chen Jinyao shouted in fright. Then she fell straight into his arms and collided with him.

“…” The down jacket was so soft that she momentarily blanked out.

Yan Cheng knew how to protect her before she fell. He wrapped his right hand around her waist, then looked down on her and whistled like a hooligan. Since he just woke up, he spoke with a low and hoarse voice: “Don’t worry, once we go home, I can cater to your ‘enthusiasm.’ ”

Chen Jinyao knew him well by now, so she simply said ‘let go’ and kept silent afterwards.

…..

Chen Jinyao thinks that Yan Cheng is crazy.

Only

He’s a crazy man whose thought process was different from others.

On the other hand, she also believed in this crazy man’s ability to reason.

Before she married him, she asked him directly: “What would you do if your white moonlight, Zhou Xue, fell into an accident?”

He answered her: “It’s none of my business. She should go to her husband.”

“What if she divorced?” Chen Jinyao kept pressing at the topic, considering every possibility.

Yan Cheng lazily leaned against the back of his chair and slowly sipped his coffee. “That’s not my business. I’m a family man.”

Although he might not mean what he said, Chen Jinyao chose to believe him, since they had already come this far. What she needed was a marriage, not love.

It’s alright, as long as he keeps his word.
