Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 8: Prenuptial Agreement (3)

So when Yan Cheng arranged work for Zhou Chao, Chen Jinyao felt betrayed and quarreled with him. She recalled how Yan Cheng seemed to be happy at the time as he told her: “Don’t be jealous, you’ll know once we get there.”

Indeed, she now knew of his intentions.

She also knows that the way he broke things off with them was very thorough.

After she came to know of it, Chen Jinyao didn’t know what to say.

Yan Cheng had created the image of an infatuated man in front of the public. No matter how much others stare at him or gossip behind his back, he will carry out this lovestruck role until the very end.

But nobody expected that underneath that appearance, he had begun to plot against Huo Qidong and Zhou Xue.

When Yan Cheng married Chen Jinyao, he deliberately got drunk and entertained all kinds of self-indulgence. But in fact, he was secretly enjoying himself in this play as he completely cut off all connection with Zhou Xue.

“Wife, do you love me? I’ve endured such humiliation from her for so many years.”

“I really wanted to bring her down to her knees in regret.”

When he said those words, he sounded like a despicable scoundrel.

Chen Jinyao sat cross-legged on the bed. Du Ni meowed beside her as she listened to the pattering water from the bathroom, along with her husband’s voiced complaints. She simply smiled and replied without a care,

“I don’t understand. You’re making it harder on yourself.”

She continued, “And as far as I’m concerned, you’re also a bit of a scum yourself.”

Yan Cheng, who had washed away his fatigue with a warm bath, refused to accept her accusation: “You don’t understand, the first offender is the guilty one.” After a pause, he added, “As for me, someone who indulges without working, they’ll probably ignore me in the future and treat me as a ‘loser.’”

Yan Cheng applied the shower gel. “It’s better not to deal with each other. I’ll be satisfied with that result.”

Chen Jinyao squinted: “You seem to be running away.”

“It’s not running away. It’s avoiding contact with a nasty person like her.” Yan Cheng interrupted her before she could reply: “Zhou Xue thinks she’s smart, but in fact, Huo Qidong doesn’t love her.”

Then why did you emotionally entangle yourself with them for so long?

Chen Jinyao felt she couldn’t understand why he would surround himself with all this.

Listening to this man’s stories was too laborious. Chen Jinyao decided that if she can’t understand him, might as well not care about it at all. Meanwhile, Yan Cheng gave up trying to explain to her since only he himself could understand. He thought he would live his life the way he wanted to anyways.

Only

After rinsing off the soap, Yan Cheng closed the shower and wiped himself dry. He put on his underwear, wrapped his lower body with a towel, then leisurely opened the door.

The heater for the room was on so there was no need to worry about freezing.

“By the way, can you introduce me to some of your close friends in a few days?” Chen Jinyao asked.

She looked up and saw her husband’s attractive figure. His body was in very good shape; the lines of his spine, down to his lower back were perfect, and the shapely muscles on his abdomen were evenly placed. Yan Cheng deliberately swaggered towards her.

Chen Jinyao backed off and shut her eyes: “Please put on your clothes.”

“Would you like to touch such good assets?” Yan Cheng took a step forward and leaned against the bed. His peach shaped eyes bent upwards as he smiled mischievously.

As soon as he spoke, Du Ni, who rested in Chen Jinyao’s arms, shot out like a loose arrow from its strings. He flew up and scratched his claw against Yan Cheng’s lower abdomen, then steadily landed on the bed with a fierce ‘Meow!’

Although Yan Cheng didn’t suffer from pain, he gritted his teeth and scolded: “–You stupid cat!”
